Resources:
Several free or low-cost online financial databases provide in-depth market and financial data. Here are a few:
- Yahoo Finance: Offers a wide range of financial data, including stock quotes, historical data, analyst recommendations, financial statements, and news. It’s free and provides good basic analytics.
- Google Finance: Google Finance is free and offers financial market news, data on individual stocks, and industry trends. It’s not as detailed as Value Line, but it’s user-friendly for quick lookups.
- Morningstar: While some content requires a subscription, Morningstar offers free data on mutual funds, ETFs, and stocks, including basic performance data, holdings, and financial health ratings.
- Finviz: Provides free stock screeners, market maps, and fundamental data, with an easy-to-use interface for filtering stocks by various financial metrics. Finviz also has a premium version for more detailed analysis.
- MarketWatch: Free to use, MarketWatch offers financial news, stock quotes, charts, and basic financials, along with some access to analyst insights and recommendations.
- Seeking Alpha: Offers a mix of free and paid content. While many in-depth analyses are behind a paywall, you can still access fundamental financial data, news, and some free articles.
- Zacks: Zacks provides free basic stock and mutual fund research, along with analyst recommendations and ranking systems for stocks. It has a premium service, but much data is available at no cost.
- EDGAR (SEC Database): The SEC’s EDGAR database offers all publicly filed company financials. While it doesn’t provide analysis, it’s invaluable for original financial documents and disclosures.
