Directory of Services

The Museum Pass Program allows Plainsboro Public Library cardholders to gain free admission to select museums.  This program is made possible by Friends of the Plainsboro Library and LibraryLinkNJ’s Level Up Your Library mini-grant program.

• Plainsboro cardholders must be 18+ years-old to reserve and check out museum passes.
• Plainsboro cardholders must owe less than $5.00 in fines, fees, or lost materials.

Available Museum Passes*

• The Academy of Natural Sciences

  • Grants free general admission for 2 adults (13 years and older) and up to 5 children from the same household
  • 10% discount at the Academy Shop and Academy Cafe

  • Grants free admission for 5 adults and accompanying children 16 and under
  • May purchase up to 5 guest tickets for $5 each
  • 10% discounts in MoMA stores

• Shofuso Japanese Cultural Center

• • Grants free admission for 2 adults and up to 5 children
  • 10% discount on items purchased at the Shofuso gift shop
  • These benefits are not valid during the Cherry Blossom Festival on April 13-14 2024

• The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum

• • Grants free admission for 4 adults or students (children under 12 years of age are always free)
  • $5 admission for up to 2 additional guests
  • 10% discount at the museum store and 25% discount during biannual Member Shopping weeks

Discounted Admission

• Liberty Science Center

• • Plainsboro cardholders will receive a 10% discount on all memberships by showing their active library card at the box office, or offered $3 off any full-priced ticket. One discount per library card.

Reserve Museum Passes

• Eligible Plainsboro cardholders may reserve each museum pass one time per month.
• Call the Circulation Desk, 609-275-2897, with your Plainsboro Library barcode, or online here (TEMPORARILY CLOSED AS OF 12/29/2024).

Check out and Return Museum Passes

• For MoMA:
  • Museum passes must be picked up at the Circulation Desk.
  • The person must present the library card under whose name the pass was reserved.
  • Museum passes are checked out for 3 days, which includes the days of check-out and return.
  • Museum passes must be returned to the Circulation Desk.

• For The Academy of Natural Sciences, the Guggenheim and Shofuso Japanese Cultural Center:
  • Museum passes must be printed out and presented at the museum.
  • The name on the reservation must match ID presented at the museum.
  • Museum passes are valid for the single day of the reservation.

• Museum passes cannot be renewed.

Late, Lost or Damaged Museum Passes

• There will be a $20.00 late fee each day the pass is past due.  The maximum fine will not exceed $100.00.
• The cardholder is responsible for the full replacement cost if the pass is lost or damaged.

No Shows and Cancellations

• Museum pass reservations may be cancelled up to the day before the reservation date by calling the Circulation Desk 609-275-2897.
• Museum passes not picked up are considered a “no show.”
• Reservations cancelled on the reservation day or after are also considered a “no show.”
• Due to high demand, 2 “no shows” in a 90 day period may result in a 3 month block on museum pass reservations.
