Lyrically Speaking:
Works from the Plainsboro Art Group
Music is an art form that has many benefits to its creators and listeners. It improves one’s mood, reduces stress, helps motivate, helps with focus and is a great source of escape and distraction. Music also helps us reflect on our lives, past experiences and, in one way or another, touches everyone who hears it. Whether it awakens feelings of love, hate, longing, hope, sorrow etc., it can ultimately connect us with others through our shared experiences. In that respect, one can also say that the visual arts have the same benefits for those that experience it. Music and Art both have the equivalent health benefits, express the emotions of the creator, elicits emotions from the audience, brings attention to shared life experiences and can connect us to each other in a time when connection is needed in the world. In this exhibit, we have asked our artists to present a piece that was inspired by music and how it has touched them in their lives. We hope that their interpretations of music can help you to see the songs through their eyes, inspire you to see how music plays a role in yours, and help you connect with others through the realization that both art forms, audio and visual, are an integral part of the human experience. Please join us for our Annual Plainsboro Art Group Exhibit, which includes works in oil, watercolor, mixed media, fine art prints, acrylic, ceramics, fiber arts, and digital/graphic work.

The Plainsboro Public Library is the host of the Plainsboro Art Group made up of artists who meet on the first Tuesdays of every month at 6:30pm, at the Plainsboro Public Library’s Community Room, to connect and share their work, ideas, share resources and seek advice from each other. The group has remained an active and important part of Plainsboro and surrounding communities with exhibitions and events that unite the community. The group welcomes all artists of varying levels and mediums to our meetings and events to foster a safe space for learning and sharing.
