(If you are using it on a computer, you will need a microphone so that we can hear what you say!)

Meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month.
7:00pm in the History Room on the 2nd floor. (Currently meeting on Zoom)

Join us for a friendly philosophic conversation each month. We welcome adults and teens who want to engage in the Socratic method of learning by questioning and reflecting with others in open-minded dialogue.

Each month the conversation varies, and one will never know in advance where it may lead. No preparation is necessary; there is no designated book-of-the-month to read or a philosophic topic to study. Just come with an open mind and a friendly attitude, and be willing to let your mind expand. Our Socrates Cafe meetings begin with a round of questions suggested by attendees for the night’s topic. This is followed by a democratic vote by all attendees to select which question will be the subject of the evening’s discussion. Then the conversation takes off! An experienced moderator is designated to gently guide the conversation if needed.

Most people find they have lots to think about and say, more than they imagined, throughout the course of the discussion. Others may prefer to listen. Whichever you prefer, we welcome you to join us as we live and play in an evening full of fun, reflective examinations.

Pop into any monthly meeting.

Registration is offered if you would like to receive an email or text message reminder for these monthly Socrates Cafe meetings. If so, make sure to select these under the “optional reminders” tab on the second page of the registration.
