Explore and Play

Come use the library’s blocks, LEGOs, and other materials to explore and play all afternoon. Designed for children 3 and up with their caregivers. No registration is required.
Ocean Tie-Dye
July 2 (In-Person) | 11:00am – 12:00pm
Join us outside by the fountain to tie-dye shirts in an ocean color theme! Use chalk to decorate our front sidewalk with ocean-themed pictures! We encourage you to bring your own white t-shirt or clothing to tie-dye! Please let us know when registering if you will be bringing your own t-shirt. While supplies last.
Music on the Green

This summer the Plainsboro Public Library invites you to music on the green! On select Saturdays at 7:00pm please join us on the Village Green for live music!
- 07/02 – The Sofia Oro Band: A Jersey City singer/songwriter inspired by Neil Young, Jack White, and other classic performers.
- 07/09 – The Princeton Tora Taiko Drummers: Experience the thrill of Japanese taiko drumming! Come by for a short performance followed by an interactive workshop where the basics of taiko drumming will be presented to the community.
- 07/16 – Camino Del Sol band: A perfect summer sound – an eclectic mix of alt-Rock with Psychedelic, Folk, Funk, Jazz, and Classica influences
Breakfast and Books: Chat with Director Darren Miguez

Every first Sunday in 2022, come to the library at 10:00am to have donuts and coffee with Library Director Darren Miguez. He would love to talk with you about how you use the library, future plans for the institution, and what you want to see out of your Plainsboro Public Library. Darren may debut new resources, note upcoming events, ask for input on product demos, and note what he’s reading currently. Stop by to talk, grab a donut and chat about the library! Green Screen Under the Sea

Try out our new green screen and take a picture or video of yourself with whales in the deep ocean, surrounded by tropical fish in the Caribbean, or swimming with the sharks! For grades K-5.

Super Sensory Time

Explore sight, touch, smell, and sound at the library using materials such as homemade playdough, water, sand, and rice. Some activities will take place outside, weather permitting. For ages 2-5 and their caregivers.
Light-Up Angler Fish

Nature and Stories

Join Miss Maureen every Thursday at the Plainsboro Preserve for stories about nature and animals followed by themed activities presented by Plainsboro Recreation Department. All ages.
The Great Plankton Race
July 7 (In-Person) | 1:30pm – 3:00pm
Run by Rutgers. Learners will explore the tiny plants and animals that drift in the ocean at the mercy of the ocean currents. Whatever their size, they must avoid sinking too deep and must stay in the sunlit layers of the ocean. Youth will explore an incredible array of unique adaptations that help them avoid sinking and engage in a fun contest to design the slowest sinking plankton. Youth will enjoy storytime reading Sea Soup: Phytoplankton and will explore pictures of real ocean drifters and will take home their plankton. For grades K-4.
Sea Turtle Craft

Climate Change Escape Room

Turtle Dance Music

Join us for an interactive virtual Family Music, Dance, and Comedy Show featuring wonderful classic and original children’s songs and tales about being under the sea! The show is crafted to be inclusive for all children, including children on the Autism Spectrum, and a great time for parents and teachers!
Coral Reef Craft

Grow your own “coral reef” using dolomite powder and a small piece of sponge! Create your reef at the library, then return a few days later to pick it up after it has the chance to grow. Ages 6 and up.
Egg Drop: Drop Off Your Capsules

Drop off your egg drop capsules anytime today between 10:00am-5:00pm. Come tomorrow to see them be dropped off the third-floor balcony! Any late eggs will not be permitted in the contest.
Diving Sign Language

2022 Egg Drop

No-Churn Ice Cream

Mermaid Diver Experiment

Join us to replicate the classic Cartesian diver experiment and learn about the principle of buoyancy and gas, with a mermaid twist! Participants will be able to decorate their diver’s water bottle after the experiment. Ages 6 and up.
