Saturday, Jan 18, 1-3pm
2nd Floor History Room
The Plainsboro Township Lions Club will be holding a vision screening session at the Plainsboro Library!
This initiative is provided as a free community service, and Plainsboro Township Lions Club utilize sophisticated equipment like the “SPOT Screener,” a handheld device designed for early detection of vision disorders. The Lions Club conducts non-intrusive and touchless screenings, capturing readings with a 97% success rate. The procedure takes less than 10 seconds, with the screener maintaining a safe distance of about 3 feet. The SPOT Screener effectively identifies potential issues, including:
- Hyperopia (Farsightedness)
- Myopia (Nearsightedness)
- Astigmatism (Imperfection in the eye’s curvature)
- Anisometropia (Unequal refractive power)
- Strabismus (Crossed eye)
- Anisocoria (Unequal pupil size)
The results are available immediately in printed or digital format, and provided immediately. Parental consent is needed for minors before screening. It’s important to note that this is strictly a screening, and the Lions Club encourages follow-ups with a professional for any abnormal results. The Plainsboro Township Lions Club is not affiliated with any commercial eyecare providers and does not charge any fees for this service.
All ages welcome, no registration required.
