Vibe Check – Taking Care of Your Mental Health as a Teen in 2023

Let’s face it. Being a teen in 2023 isn’t easy. Managing the demands of parents, teachers, coaches, and even friends all while discovering who you are and where you fit in this world is a lot of pressure. How do you find balance when everything feels so important to your future while also finding joy in being a teenager? Join the Northeast & Caribbean Mental Health Technology Transfer Center for an engaging (and dare we say fun?!) in-person workshop to understand how to best support your own mental health and equip yourself with strategies to combat stress, anxiety, and the big emotions that inevitably come with life as a teen.

Stuart Luther, MS, NCC, LAC, has over 5 years of experience working with schools and youth, both as a regional youth development program director and a school-based mental health clinician. Stuart has worked extensively with administrators, child study teams, school counselors, teachers, and families to provide mental health support within schools on programmatic and individual levels. Stuart’s previous work with the MHTTC includes supporting technical assistance, training, and coaching to implement evidence-based practices for comprehensive school mental health within the region. Stuart received extensive training in adolescent mental health as a Rutgers University Behavioral Youth Collaborative awardee funded by HRSA. He specializes clinically in LGBTQIA+ youth behavioral health. Stuart also has research experience in the areas of LGBTQIA+ mental health and educational instruction assessment and has worked as a research assistant and content expert for the New York State Academy of Peer Services.
