A Day In The Life of an Oceanographer

Oceanographers and marine biologists study all aspects of the ocean, from plants and animals to chemistry and geology, and more! Join us on Tuesday, July 5th, 7:00pm for a little trivia fun and to learn more about Oceanography. Quintin Diou-Cass, a Ph.D. in Biological Oceanography, from Rutgers University will lead us in discussion and trivia.

Quintin is studying the interactions between the environment and tiny, microscopic plants called phytoplankton. These plants are incredibly important to the ocean and the animals living in it. A few questions he is trying to answer:

1. Despite their size, the plants are pretty resilient and can adapt to new conditions, but how resilient are they?

2. Once the environment begins to change, how does that stress impact their form and function?
