Juneteenth Day: A Federal Holiday

The newest federal holiday, Juneteenth Day,  celebrates the end of slavery in the United States. President Joe Biden signed the legislation in June 2021.

Join us on Thursday, June 22 at 7p when Frank Marlowe will discuss the history of Juneteenth Day.

Frank Marlowe is a retired electrical engineer.  Since retiring from Sarnoff Corporation (formerly RCA Laboratories) in Princeton, he has pursued his interest in American history with recent focus on the experiences of freed slaves and their descendants since the end of the civil war.  In this category, he has given 16 presentations on various aspects of this subject in support of the Cranbury Public Library’s observations of Black History Month.

Mr. Marlowe earned a BSEE degree from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, an MSEE degree from Princeton, and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Rutgers.  He and his wife of 58 years, Roberta, live in a historic house in Cranbury.
