Basics of Cellular Biology
This program is the go to for anybody interested in cellular biology or wanting a head start on a core topic moving forward. Over the course of three weeks, you will be able to learn the inner workings of the very building block making up all of the living things on this planet and at the end, be able to see these marvelous machines under a microscope by creating your very own slide of human cheek cells!
This course is fast paced and engaging and designed to provide a brief and holistic overview of a crucial topic in high school biology. We will go over topics such as the structure of a cell, the role and structure of each organelle and the intricate relations between each part of the cell. This knowledge will then be applied in a fun microscope lab toward the end of the course.
This program is for ages 10-13.

About the teen:
As a rising sophomore in high school, the very first year of taking the Honors Biology course made it my absolute favorite subject. I have always loved science since I was younger but high school seems to have sparked a new interest in biology. My freshman year, I ended up joining a Waksman club at my school, whose goal is to work with professors at Rutgers to isolate sequences of proteins in landoltia punctata, or common duckweed. Eventually I, like others from this club, ended up publishing a clone on NCBI, a scientific database used worldwide. Experiences like these are what make me realize the importance and significance of science and implored me to share this with others.
