Books and Crafts

Meet Kiersten for stories, songs, and a craft! Designed for children 3-5 years, all families are welcome to attend. In-person events are limited to 10 people.  Everyone age 3 and up is required to wear a mask and maintain proper social distancing.


Lapsit Storytime

Baby Shark Party

Come celebrate everyone’s favorite sea creature with games, crafts, and more! All ages welcome. No registration is required.


All-Day Drop-In: Newspaper Shark
August 3 (In-Person) | All Day
Drop by the library every Wednesday from 11:00am through the end of the day for a passive program! From take-and-make crafts to self-guided in-library activities, we’ll always have something a little different. The only way to find out what is happening is to stop by!


Super Sensory Time
August 3 (In-Person) | 11:00am – 12:00pm
Explore sight, touch, smell, and sound at the library using materials such as homemade playdough, water, sand, and rice. Some activities will take place outside, weather permitting. For ages 2-5 and their caregivers.


Nature and Stories
August 4, 11 (Plainsboro Preserve) | 10:30am – 11:30am
Join Miss Maureen every Thursday at the Plainsboro Preserve for stories about nature and animals followed by themed activities presented by Plainsboro Recreation Department. All ages.


Thursday Night Storytime
August 4, 18 (In-Person) | 6:30pm – 7:00pm
Join Kiersten in a themed storytime every Thursday night! For ages 3 and up.


Science and Stories
August 5 (In-Person) | 11:00am – 12:00pm
Join Miss Maureen for stories, songs, and STEM activities. Designed for ages 3-5 and their caregivers. Registration required.


Explore and Play
August 5, 12, 19, 26 (In-Person) | 2:30pm – 4:30pm
Come use the library’s blocks, LEGOs, and other materials to explore and play all afternoon. Designed for children 3 and up with their caregivers. No registration is required.


Build A No Wire Circuit
August 6 (In-Person) | 2:30pm – 3:30pm
Attendees build a circuit to transfer electricity from a battery to an LED using office and art supplies. Grades 3-5


Create A Creature
August 9 (In-Person) | 2:30pm – 3:30pm
Learn about mythical sea creatures, then use what you’ve learned and work together to make new sea creatures. Designed for grades 2-5.

Monsters and Myths

Learn about the legends and myths of monsters that live in the ocean and other water locations. For grades 2-6.


Turtle Dance Music
August 10 (In-Person/Virtual) | 6:30pm – 7:30pm
Join us for an interactive virtual Family Music, Dance, and Comedy Show featuring wonderful classic and original children’s songs and tales about being under the sea! The show is crafted to be inclusive for all children, including children on the Autism Spectrum, and a great time for parents and teachers!


Summer Learning Closing Celebration
August 13 (In-Person) | 11:00am – 12:00pm
Join us for fun and games to celebrate the ending of our Summer Learning Challenge! For all ages.


Screen-Free Art Lessons
August 15 (In-Person) | 11:30am – 1:00pm
These lessons will provide you with an alternative to using a screen. You will learn various techniques in each class. After the event, take home a kit to continue making art. Have some fun while making some art! This class will be located in the tower room. All attendees must be wearing masks. For ages 6-9.


Perler Beads for Kids
August 16 (In-Person) | 4:00pm – 5:00pm
Have fun with Perler beads! Make a cool design and take it home with you! For ages 7-12.

Join teen volunteer Elizabeth in a bedtime storytime for ages 3-6.


Intro to 3D Printing
August 20 (Zoom) | 2:30pm – 3:30pm
Attendees will learn the basics of Tinkercad and the basics of 3D printing. For grades 4-7
Prerequisite: basic computer skills, eg: minimizing windows, switching between zoom video and windows, click and drag, etc.


Family Storytime
